Since the record and DVD stores in Norway have dropped dead like flies during the recent years, and especially this year, browsing record shops abroad has become part of the traveling. I am both a buyer and an embracer of the digital format, but there are still some old nostalgic bones left in me from the 90’s that prefers the physical format once in a while. And the pleasure of simply browsing a number of shelves to find some treasures.
The Gibert Joseph store has become a permanent post in Paris, a place where they sell CDs, vinyls, DVDs, books and comics (mostly in French of course). Fortunately, however, the music isn’t dubbed, and the music section is so huge that I could spend a whole weekend there just browsing. And right next door to Gibert Joseph is the shop where I buy some of my drawing equipment that I also cannot find anywhere to purchase here in Norway. One would think that I came from a piss-poor country that only had farm fields and broken out-houses to offer, but if I have to put anything from Norway on my recommendations list, it’s got to be the great selection of beer-labels. Cheers.
So, what did I bring home with me this time? Let’s have a look:

ART ZOYD: Nosferatu
Huh..? What’s this, you may ask? This is a soundtrack made for the silent-horror film Nosferatu in 1990, in which later was added on one of the countless DVD’s. And I’ve watched it countless times just for the soundtrack alone. It fits the moody and the gothic imagery perfectly, and there’s even a brief moment of some death metal vocals here. Because, why not. The perfect way to describe it is to experience it yourself. It’s quite a trip, I can say..
And with the band Art Zoyd being French and all, I was really thrilled to see their own section at the store, and grabbed this immediately. They also made the soundtrack to other silent films such as “Haxan”, “Faust”, and “Metropolis”, to mention some..
But yeah, that cover don’t look very… appealing, unless you know what you’re looking for. It looks like some cheap bootleg. But I can assure you it’s not. A small poster and still images from the film is also included.
Live DVD with Killing Joke.
Didn’t browse much at the vinyl section this time, but at least bought one.
Jack and Sally, from the “Miss Mindy” collection. Souvenirs from Disneyland Paris.
And we came over this cute cat calendar at La Chaise Longue, and of course we just had to grab a pair to our two, furry four-legs at home, Fia and Philip. If they’re even going to care about it, remains to be seen..
Even though I’m a sucker for “Ordo Ad Chao”, I’m pretty sure this will be their best since “De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas”. October couldn’t come sooner!
And yes, Horror Ghouls have watched “Lords of Chaos” and a review is coming..
Got some great CD’s for christmas, one of them being the box set of Cannibal Corpse’s TORTURE. So now it’s time for a new unboxing. Here we go:
